Mermaid Awakening is a free Roblox mermaid roleplay set on a tropical Gold Coast with an H2O streak: Rikki’s cafe, Mako Island, water / fire / ice, and a mermaid morph. It released at the end of August 2026 and opened to all ages on 2 September 2026. This review is for players who are about to favourite it — or about to confuse it with Mermaid Isle.

Who it is for. People who want a 20-player dress-up beach, a waitress loop, a tail they designed, and a swim to a named island. TikTok already treats it as the new H2O hangout. If you want 500 gacha tails and a combat season pass, you are in the wrong ocean.

Who should skip it. Anyone allergic to launch bugs. The experience description says glitches should be expected. Job prompts fail. Morphs T-pose. Fish do not save. Rejoin is the patch. If that sentence makes you close Roblox, wait a month and read launch notes later.

The loop, rated honestly

Customization — strong. Official art already gives you three land uniforms (lifeguard, fisher, cafe) and a mermaid silhouette. The closet is the product. Read customization before you spend.

Jobs — good enough. Waitress work at Rikki’s is the clip people share. Lifeguard is on the box art. Coins buy things the store also prices in Robux. Use the job planner before you tap 699.

Powers — toys, not a fighter. Water, fire, ice. No public damage sheet. Fun in a cove. Useless as a reason to buy a pass. Powers guide.

Fishing — a long badge, not a genre. Caught all fish sat near a 0.2% award rate. Cute. Not the main game. Fishing.

Mako — the reason to morph. If the island feels empty, you arrived too early or on a broken server. Photograph one cove and leave. Come back after a hotfix.

Spending

Free to play. Mermaid form is free. x2 Money does not multiply Coin Codes and cannot be bought with coins. VIP and Pearl can. Default plan: farm coins, skip Robux, like the game for the code. Versus other mermaid games

Verdict

Play it if you like mermaid RP and can tolerate a [RELEASE] sticker. Like it if you want the coin code. Do not pre-spend Robux. Do not download a farm GUI. Use Getting Started, learn controls, morph, work one shift, swim to Mako. That is the review in one session.

Score, if you need a number: worth a favourite, not worth a panic purchase. The art is prettier than most day-one Roblox beaches. The systems are thin and honest about it. If Lilly ships a named update, this page will say what changed. Until then, the live build is the review.

Session script (so the review is testable)

1. Favourite the place. Join the group. Like it — the counter is the only scheduled carrot.
2. Build a land fit you can work in. Save a swim look. Customization.
3. Clock a Rikki’s or Lifeguard prompt in human form.
4. Toggle mermaid. Swim a short loop. Toggle back. If that fails, rejoin, do not refund a pass you should not have bought.
5. Either start fishing or commit twenty minutes to Mako. Stop. That is enough data to decide if you will be here next week.

If step 3 or 4 fails twice, the server is bad, not the genre. Hop. If it fails on five servers, read launch notes and go do something else until Discord says the tray is up. A review that pretends every instance is playable is lying; a review that pretends the Gold Coast is empty is also lying. The truth is 20-player beaches that look like the trailer when the instance loads.
