Mermaid Awakening Mako Island and Hidden Places

The Roblox listing puts Discover Mako Island in the same breath as mermaid form, Gold Coast, jobs, and hidden places. That is not flavour text stolen from another game. Mermaid Awakening’s socials have been tagging #h2ojustaddwater and #makomermaids for months. Mako is the underwater half of the pitch. The Gold Coast is where you work and pose. Mako is where the secret is supposed to live.

Do not swim there as your first action. If you cannot toggle the mermaid form, you will bounce off the trip. Read how to become a mermaid and practise powers in shallow water first.

What Mako is for

In the H2O / Mako Mermaids fantasy, the island is a restricted, magical place humans are not meant to see. In this Roblox version, expect:

• A distant landmass off the Gold Coast, not a loading-screen teleport with a unique lobby.
• Underwater paths — ruins, moonlit coves, and “lost islands” from the group about text.
• Photo spots that do not work if you still have shoes and a lifeguard whistle equipped.
• Secrets that are either collection items, quest givers, or just scenery. Launch did not publish a shrine list.

The baby turtle quest people filmed at release is the kind of thing that belongs on this island or on a nearby rock, not inside Rikki’s. If you are hunting it, hunt in the water after a shift, not during one.

How to get there

1. Earn enough coins on jobs that you can afford to be away from the cafe for twenty minutes.
2. Transform on the Gold Coast beach facing open water, not the hotel canal.
3. Swim or boat toward the obvious offshore island. If the map has a label, it will say Mako. If it does not, it is still the big rock the whole marketing campaign named.
4. Surface if the swim HUD hides your codes or shop. You can redeem later.
5. Once you land, walk the shore before you dive the ruins. Launch collision on new islands is messy.

If you cannot find an island at all, you may be on a broken server. The listing is a single place (79056756711551), not a universe of teleports. Rejoin. Do not install a “Mako TP” script from a random hub — those will be universal teleports aimed at other games.

Ruins, coves, and how not to get lost

The group promises ancient ruins and moonlit coves. Use them as:

• Roleplay sets away from the 20-player beach crowd.
• Fishing holes for species that refuse to bite next to cabanas (see fishing).
• Power stages — ice reads in caves, fire reads at night, water reads in shafts of light.

Drop a mental breadcrumb: hotel strip → Rikki’s ramp → open water → island beach → cove. If you cannot reverse that list, you are not ready to hunt secrets. There is no official fast-travel pass.

Secrets versus bugs

Launch copy says Find hidden places & secrets and, in the next paragraph, Bugs or Glitches may appear and should be expected. A floating rock, a dry moon pool, or a turtle under the map might be either. Test on a second server before you write a guide comment that “the turtle is deleted.” Check launch notes and Discord before you assume you finished the island.

Nothing in the store sells island access. VIP will not open a gate. x2 Money will not. If a player is charging coins for a “Mako tour,” that is just a roleplay, not a mechanic.

What to bring

• A tail you can see in dark water.
• A land outfit in your closet for the trip back to Fresh Catch or Rikki’s.
• Patience. The island is content, not a loot dungeon. You will not extract a mythic tail every dive.
• Friends if you want the H2O trio fantasy. Servers max at 20, so a trio still fits.

When you have walked the beach, one ruin, and one cove, you have done Mako for a first session. Go earn coins. Come back at night for the screenshots the Gold Coast hotels cannot give you.
