Walk the land loop first so you can point at buildings. Then morph. Then swim. Getting Started is the hour plan; this page is where that hour goes when you leave the beach.
Gold Coast — the land half of the secret
Secrets start on land because jobs and shops are how you stay long enough to notice them.
- Cabanas and umbrellas. Hero art. Photo set, not a dungeon. Walk the rows so you know which way is ocean.
- Hotels behind the sand. Backdrop. If a door prompt appears, it is furniture RP, not a raid.
- Lifeguard stand. Job. The Lifeguard loop is the secret to coins, not a hidden key.
- Rikki’s. Named cafe with a ramp and flags. Waitress orders from NPCs and players. The name is an H2O nod. Treat it as a job and a meeting spot.
- Fresh Catch Fish Shop. Hills / porch in official art. The Caught all fish badge starts here. Rare on purpose (~0.2% award rate at launch).
If you cannot name those five after one session, you are not ready for Mako. You are lost on a beach.
Mako Island — the underwater half
The listing bullets Discover Mako Island. The group copy adds ruins and moonlit coves. The Mako Island guide is the swim. This page is what people mean by “secrets” once they have a tail.
Expect:
- A crossing: swim or a boat-like path. Launch clips show both. If you drown the session in circling, surface and reset the camera (controls).
- Ruins. Rock, arches, something that photographs as “ancient.” Not a numbered shrine list.
- Moonlit coves. Dark water. Wear a high-contrast tail from customization or you will screenshot a black smear.
- Lost islands as a plural in group text. One island is confirmed by name (Mako). Extra rocks may be set dressing until the team names them.
There is no official GPS. Drop your own pins in Discord. Do not copy a Mermaid Lagoon moon-pool walkthrough and paste it here — different place ID.
The baby turtle quest
Launch-week TikToks tagged @Mermaid Awakening with a baby turtle location. That is a player-filmed prompt, not a developer spreadsheet. Treat it as:
- A creature / NPC on or near the water.
- A talk / pick-up / follow interaction.
- A one-off at launch that may grow into a quest log or stay a cute clip.
If you cannot find it, hop servers. 20-player instances hide NPCs when the tile fails to load. It is not gated on VIP. It is not a Robux turtle. If a GUI claims “auto turtle,” that is a script wrapping a teleport — skip it.
Moon pools and H2O muscle memory

- Rejoin if an NPC is missing. Launch notes already warned that glitches appear.
Do not spend Robux on x2 Money to “unlock secrets.” Secrets are exploration. Money doubles jobs, not islands.
