Coins are the quiet gate in Mermaid Awakening. Tails and powers make the trailer. Jobs pay for the closet. The official listing puts Work jobs & earn coins in the same bullet list as mermaid form and Mako Island, and the store lets you buy VIP clothing and the Pearl Luxury Outfit with in-game currency. That is the economy: shifts on the Gold Coast, then cosmetics, then swimming.

Rikki’s

Rikki’s is the red-and-teal waterfront cafe with a metal ramp, cyan flags, and outdoor seating. The name is an H2O wink and it is in the official media, not a fan rename. Launch TikToks showed a waitress job that takes orders from both NPCs and real players. That is the best first job if you like social servers: you are in the shot, you are useful, and you are next to the water for a mermaid break between tickets.

How to work it in practice:

1. Walk the ramp in land clothes. A black cafe-style top matches the promo pose; it is not required.
2. Look for a clock-in prompt, apron, or “start shift” board. If nothing appears, hop servers — 20-player instances desync job NPCs.
3. Take the order, walk it, return. Other players can order. Be faster than AFK waiters.
4. Clock out before you transform. Mermaid collision on the ramp is how trays vanish into the canal.

Rikki’s is also a roleplay set. If you are not on a shift, do not stand in the ticket line. Go to the cabanas.

Lifeguard

The hero screenshot is a lifeguard on the Gold Coast: red cross tank, pink shorts, cabanas, striped chairs, hotels in the haze. That job is the postcard. Expect a stand, a lookout, or a beach patrol prompt near the umbrellas. Lifeguard is quieter than Rikki’s and better if you hate taking player orders.

Wear the part if you own it. It helps other players know you are working, not just posing. Coins still come from the job system, not from looking correct, but this is a dress-up RP — presentation is content.

Fresh Catch and side income

The Fish Shop is a job-adjacent loop, not a waiter ticket. You buy/sell or turn in fish at the counter, then complete the fishing collection. It pays worse than a focused cafe shift at the start and better later if you are hunting the Caught all fish badge. Do not treat it as your first coin faucet unless you already like fishing minigames.

Community clips also mention a baby turtle quest. Treat that as a one-off location quest, not a hourly wage. If you find it, great; do not skip Rikki’s looking for a turtle that might be a limited spawn.

What coins should buy

Spend coins on:

• Land outfits you will wear on shift.
• VIP clothing if you refuse to pay 699 Robux for the pass — the VIP pass text says clothing/accessories can be purchased with in-game currency.
• Pearl Luxury pieces if you want the princess look without the Robux tag.
• Fishing restock if the shop charges for bait or slots.

Do not spend coins on:

• Panic extras the minute a code lands. Bank a stack.
• Duplicate mermaid tails you will hide under a better fluke tomorrow. Read customization first.

x2 Money versus just working

x2 Money costs 300 Robux, is permanent, doubles earnings from jobs, activities, and rewards, cannot be bought with coins, and does not apply to Coin Codes. Buy it after you have timed a real shift. If a Rikki’s ticket already feels fast, the pass is a luxury. If you plan to grind the fish badge for a week, the pass is the only income multiplier in the store.

VIP does not double coins. It makes you loud in chat and unlocks a closet. Those are different products. The job planner exists to run that comparison with numbers instead of chat pressure.

Shift hygiene

• One job at a time. Do not leave a waitress shift running while you swim to Mako.
• Rejoin if the prompt dies. Launch bugs are expected (launch notes).
• Like the game on a break. The 5,000-like code is extra coins that x2 Money will not multiply — still free.
• After three shifts, go use powers or you will burn out on trays and never see the island.

Jobs are the boring half of a mermaid fantasy. They are also how you avoid spending 699 Robux to look the part. Work, then awaken.
